Charged after cancelling, charged twice, or charged unexpectedly

Learn what to check after an unexpected, duplicate, or post-cancellation Studio Era charge, and what to send Support if you need help.

A charge that looks wrong doesn’t always mean the same thing happened.

You may be looking at a renewal that processed before cancellation was completed, more than one membership, a charge from a different billing source, or a payment that hasn’t actually completed yet.

Start with the checks below so you can identify the right next step.

First, check who billed the membership

Your device doesn’t determine who manages your subscription.

  • If you subscribed through the Studio Era website or Android app, your membership is billed directly by Studio Era.

  • If you purchased through Apple’s subscription system, Apple manages the membership and billing.

On an iPhone or iPad, you can check Settings → your name → Subscriptions. If Studio Era appears there, Apple manages that subscription.

I cancelled, but I was still charged

Start by comparing when the charge was processed with when your cancellation was completed.

Cancelling stops future renewals. It doesn’t automatically reverse a payment that was already processed before cancellation was completed.

Check the charge and cancellation dates

Review:

  • The date of the charge

  • The date you completed cancellation

  • Any cancellation confirmation you received

  • The membership or account connected to that confirmation

If the payment was processed before cancellation was completed, it may belong to the billing period that had already started.

Confirm that cancellation was completed

Starting the cancellation process isn’t enough. Make sure you completed all remaining prompts and received confirmation that the membership would no longer renew.

If you’re not sure whether cancellation was completed, see Cancel your membership or free trial.

Make sure you cancelled the same membership that generated the charge

It’s possible to have more than one Studio Era membership, including memberships connected to different email addresses or purchase sources.

For example, cancelling an Apple-managed membership doesn’t automatically cancel a separate membership purchased directly through the Studio Era website.

A charge after cancellation needs to be checked against the specific membership you cancelled. The cancellation confirmation, charge details, purchase source, and account email can help determine whether they belong to the same membership.

If a Studio Era-billed charge appears to have completed after you cancelled, or you can’t reconcile the charge and cancellation dates, Contact Studio Era Support so we can investigate. If Apple billed the charge, Apple’s billing support can help review that transaction.

I was charged twice

Two charges that look similar should be reviewed before assuming they’re duplicate payments. Start by comparing both transactions.

Check:

  • The date of each charge

  • The amount and currency

  • The transaction description shown by your bank

  • Any receipts from Studio Era or Apple

  • The email address connected to each membership

  • Whether Studio Era appears under your Apple subscriptions

There are a few different possibilities.

You may have more than one Studio Era membership

A second membership may be connected to:

  • Another email address

  • An older or secondary email

  • A misspelled email address

  • An Apple subscription and a separate Studio Era-billed subscription

Search the email accounts you can access for Studio Era and Apple receipts, welcome emails, renewal emails, and cancellation confirmations.

One transaction may not be a completed charge

Sometimes a bank can show a pending or unsuccessful payment attempt alongside a completed payment.

A pending, failed, cancelled, or reversing transaction isn’t necessarily a second completed charge. Check its status with your bank before treating both transactions as completed payments.

If Studio Era shows a failed payment but your bank still shows a transaction, see Update your payment method or fix a failed payment.

The charges may need review

If both transactions appear to be completed and you still can’t identify why there are two charges, check who billed each one.

  • For a Studio Era-billed charge: Contact Studio Era Support so we can review the Studio Era billing record.

  • For an Apple-billed charge: Apple’s billing support can help review the Apple transaction.

  • If you may have one charge from each: Send us the details of both charges so we can investigate the Studio Era-billed membership. Apple manages the Apple-billed transaction.

I don’t recognize or wasn’t expecting a charge

First, check whether the payment matches a Studio Era membership you already have or previously started.

Review:

  • The charge date

  • The amount and currency

  • The transaction description on your statement

  • Your Studio Era and Apple receipts

  • Your free-trial or renewal dates, if applicable

  • Any email addresses you may have used for Studio Era

An unexpected charge may be connected to a membership renewal, the end of a free trial, another account, or a different purchase source.

Check your Apple subscriptions

On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

If Studio Era appears there, check the subscription status and billing details. If you’ve used more than one Apple Account, make sure you’re checking the account used for the original purchase.

Search your other email addresses

A membership may be connected to a different email than the one you currently use to contact Support.

Search any accessible personal, work, older, or secondary email addresses for Studio Era receipts or membership messages. If you think you may have entered your email incorrectly when subscribing, Support can help investigate.

If you still can’t identify a Studio Era-billed charge, Contact Studio Era Support. If your receipt shows that Apple billed the charge, use Apple’s billing support to review that transaction.

Could I have more than one Studio Era membership?

Yes. Separate memberships can exist if Studio Era was purchased more than once.

For example, you may have:

  • A Studio Era membership under one email and another under a different email

  • A membership purchased through Apple and another purchased directly through Studio Era

  • A membership created using a mistyped email address

Each membership has its own billing and cancellation status. Cancelling one membership doesn’t automatically cancel another separate membership.

If you found a second membership, a different account email, or another likely reason for the charge, Contact Studio Era Support and tell us what you found. We can review the Studio Era-billed membership and help determine the next step. Apple manages any membership purchased through its subscription system.

What if the charge is pending, failed, or being reversed?

The status shown by your bank matters. A transaction that appears in your account doesn’t always mean the payment was successfully completed.

If the transaction is marked as pending, failed, cancelled, declined, or reversing, check with your bank for its current status.

If your bank shows a completed payment but your Studio Era membership shows that payment failed, Contact Studio Era Support so we can compare our billing record with what you’re seeing.

What should I send Studio Era Support?

Whether you’ve found a likely cause or still can’t identify the charge, Contact Studio Era Support and send whatever information you have available. You don’t need every item below before reaching out.

Account details to include

  • The email address you use for Studio Era

  • Any other email addresses you may have used

  • Where you think the membership was purchased, if known

Charge details to include

  • The date

  • The amount and currency

  • The transaction description shown on your statement

  • A screenshot of the transaction, with sensitive payment information hidden

If you cancelled before the charge

Include your cancellation confirmation or the date you completed cancellation, if available.

If Apple may be involved

Include an Apple receipt or order information if you have it. We can use it to help identify whether there is also a separate Studio Era-billed membership, but Apple manages its own transaction.

For a direct Studio Era charge that we can’t identify, our team may also ask for the last four digits of the card that was charged.

Keep your payment information private

Never send your full card number, card security code, password, or complete payment details through Support.

What happens if a payment needs to be refunded?

If the charge is billed directly by Studio Era, Support will review the billing details and determine the appropriate next step. Refund requests are reviewed individually.

For more information, see Refunds and refund requests.

If the payment was made through Apple, Apple manages the payment and any refund request.
