Join and follow a workout challenge

Learn how Studio Era workout challenges work, how they differ from workout programs, and how to join and follow one in the app.

Studio Era workout challenges are short-term, focused experiences designed to give you a clear goal and a structured schedule to follow.

Challenges last up to 30 days, and every challenge launches as a shared experience. During its live challenge period, Studio Era members can move through the challenge together and take part in the activities built around that launch.

What is a Studio Era workout challenge?

A challenge gives you a preset workout schedule to follow for a shorter period of time.

When a new challenge launches, members can follow the same challenge experience together. Depending on the challenge, that can include things like:

  • community check-ins or activities

  • workouts released throughout the challenge

  • progress goals

  • equipment recommendations

  • prizes or eligibility requirements

  • other challenge-specific activities or rules

The exact setup can vary from one challenge to another, so the challenge’s own guide is the best place to check its dates, requirements, and live challenge details.

How is a challenge different from a workout program?

Workout challenges and workout programs both give you a structured schedule inside Studio Era, but they’re designed for different types of training experiences.

A workout challenge is a shorter, focused push that lasts up to 30 days. It follows a preset challenge schedule and launches as a shared experience, so members can move through the challenge together during its live period.

A workout program is a longer training plan, typically around 8 weeks, designed to give you a more sustained training structure over time. When you start a program, you choose whether you want to train 3, 4, or 5 days per week, then follow that schedule through the program.

They still work similarly inside the app.

Programs and challenges are both structured schedules. Once you add one, Studio Era shows your scheduled sessions on Home and lets you open the full schedule.

The difference is the training experience you’re following, not simply where it appears in the app.

For help starting and following a workout program, see Start and follow a workout program.

How does the challenge schedule work?

When you add a challenge, Studio Era places its sessions into a structured schedule.

You’ll choose a start date when adding the challenge, but the order and cadence of the sessions are already set by that challenge.

Once the challenge is active:

  • Home shows the session scheduled for the current day.

  • You can open the full challenge schedule to see where you are and what’s coming next.

  • Upcoming sessions may show Coming Soon if they aren’t available to start yet.

If you’re joining during the live challenge period, check the challenge-specific guide for the official start date and any schedule or release details so you can follow along with the shared experience.

What does Coming Soon mean?

Coming Soon means that the session isn’t available to start from that scheduled position yet.

Some challenges release workouts progressively rather than making every session available at once. The exact release timing can vary, so check the guide for the challenge you’re following if you want to know when a specific workout will become available.

To follow your challenge:

  1. Tap Home in the bottom navigation.

  2. Find your challenge and the session scheduled for today.

  3. Open the session when you’re ready to begin.

  4. To see the full challenge schedule, tap the challenge name or arrow above the daily session.

When a workout is ready, tap Start workout to begin.

After you finish a workout, Studio Era will take you through the completion flow and Summary. See Finish a workout and review your completed session for what happens next.

Challenge sessions aren’t individual Workout Planner workouts.

A challenge follows its structured challenge schedule. The Workout Planner is for individual workouts you add yourself, so don’t use it to change the challenge’s preset cadence.

For individual workout planning, see Use the Workout Planner to plan and manage workouts.
