Use the Food Diary to log food, recipes, barcodes and custom nutrition

Open your Food Diary to log and manage foods, recipes, barcode scans, and custom entries for the day you ate them.

The Food Diary is where Studio Era records what you actually ate on a selected day.

Planning and logging are different.

Your Meal Plan and Meal Planner show what you’re planning to eat.

Your Food Diary shows what you actually logged. A meal appearing in your plan does not mean it has already been added to your Food Diary.

Open your Food Diary

To open your Food Diary for today or a previous date:

  1. Tap Home in the bottom navigation.

  2. Make sure the date you want to review is selected on Home.

  3. Scroll down to Nutrition and tap the card.

  4. Make sure Food Diary is selected at the bottom of the Nutrition screen.

The top of the Food Diary shows what you’ve logged against your daily totals and target.

Add a food to a meal

To add something you ate:

  1. Open the Food Diary for the correct date.

  2. Find the meal you want to add it to, such as Breakfast or Lunch.

  3. Tap Add Food.

  4. Search for a food or choose from:

    • Recents for foods you’ve used recently.

    • My food for custom foods you’ve created.

    • My Recipes for recipes you’ve created.

  5. Select the food or recipe you want.

  6. Review the serving or amount shown.

  7. Tap Add to [meal].

  8. Return to the Food Diary and check that the entry appears under the correct meal and date.

If the meal category you need isn’t listed, use Add Other Category and choose the category you want.

Edit or remove something you logged

If the amount you logged needs to change:

  1. Open the Food Diary for the correct date.

  2. Tap the food entry you want to change.

  3. Under Edit entry, update the amount.

  4. Return to the Food Diary and check that the entry and daily totals reflect the new amount.

To remove an entry:

  1. Open the Food Diary for the correct date.

  2. Tap the checkmark icon next to the entry.

  3. When Remove entry? appears, tap Remove.

  4. Check that the entry is gone and the daily totals have updated.

Log a Studio Era recipe

You can find and log a Studio Era recipe directly from your Food Diary.

  1. Open the Food Diary for the date you’re logging.

  2. Tap the chef-hat icon.

  3. Browse the recipes or open the recipe you want.

  4. Review its details and servings.

  5. Tap Add to diary.

  6. Choose the meal category where you ate it.

  7. Check the Food Diary to make sure the recipe was added to the correct meal.

For more on browsing the Studio Era recipe library, see Find recipes and food options.

Scan a packaged food

If a packaged food has a barcode, you can try scanning it from the Food Diary.

  1. Open the Food Diary.

  2. Tap Add Food under the meal you want to log.

  3. Tap the barcode icon in the food picker.

  4. If your phone asks for camera access, allow it so the scanner can use your camera.

  5. Point the camera at the barcode.

  6. Review the food, nutrition information, and serving shown before adding it to your diary.

Not every barcode will have a match in the food database. If Studio Era shows No food matched that barcode, try another product or add the food manually instead.

Create and reuse your own food

If the food you need isn’t available, you can create your own entry.

  1. Open Add Food from a meal in your Food Diary.

  2. Choose My food.

  3. Use the add control to create a new food.

  4. Enter its name, serving information, and nutrition values shown on the form.

  5. Check the values against the food label or source you’re using.

  6. Tap Create.

Your saved food will be available under My food the next time you open Add Food.

Double-check the information before creating it. Custom foods can be reused later, but they can’t currently be edited after they’ve been created.

Create and manage your own recipe

You can also create a reusable recipe from the My Recipes section of Add Food.

  1. Open Add Food from a meal in your Food Diary.

  2. Choose My Recipes.

  3. Tap Create Recipe.

  4. Enter the recipe name and number of servings.

  5. Tap Add ingredient and search for the ingredients you need.

  6. Add preparation steps or tags if you want to use them.

  7. Tap Save recipe.

When building a custom recipe, ingredients are selected from Studio Era’s food database. Foods you created under My food aren’t currently available as recipe ingredients.

To find the recipe again, return to Add Food → My Recipes.

Open a saved recipe to:

  • log it to the selected meal,

  • Edit it,

  • Duplicate it, or

  • Delete it.

Where do I find my custom foods and recipes later?

Custom foods and recipes are accessed through the Food Diary’s Add Food flow.

  1. Open the Food Diary.

  2. Tap Add Food under any meal.

  3. Choose:

    • My food for foods you created.

    • My Recipes for recipes you created.

There isn’t a separate custom-food or custom-recipe library elsewhere in the app.

Review food you logged on another day

To review food you logged today or on a previous date:

  1. Go to Home.

  2. Select the date you want to review.

  3. Open the Nutrition card.

  4. Make sure Food Diary is selected.

You’ll see the food recorded for that date.

Planning meals for later?

The Food Diary is for food you actually logged.

If you want to arrange meals for a future date instead, see Use the Meal Planner to plan and customize your week.
