Use, customize or change a meal plan

Choose and schedule a Studio Era meal plan, see what’s planned each day, and use Alternatives or the Meal Planner when you want to make changes.

A Studio Era meal plan gives you a ready-made set of meals to follow instead of building every day from scratch. You choose the plan you want, add it to your schedule, and then decide how closely you want to follow the meals shown for each day.

Meal Plan, Meal Planner, and Food Diary do different things.

Your Meal Plan is the set of meals Studio Era places on your schedule.

The Meal Planner is where you can adjust what you’re planning to eat across individual days.

The Food Diary records what you actually ate. A meal appearing in your plan does not mean it has already been logged.

Choose and schedule a meal plan

Studio Era shows recommended calories for your profile. When choosing a meal plan, look for the plan whose calories are closest to your Target Cals.

To choose and schedule a plan:

  1. Tap Explore in the bottom navigation.

  2. Select Nutrition.

  3. Find Target Cals and note the calorie target shown for your profile.

  4. Scroll to Meal Plans and compare the calorie amounts shown for the available plans.

  5. Choose the meal plan that most closely matches your Target Cals, then open it to review its meals and nutrition information.

  6. Tap Add to Schedule.

  7. Under Select Start Date, choose when you want the plan to begin.

  8. Review the repeat setting shown before confirming.

  9. Tap Add to Schedule again.

Studio Era Nutrition screens showing Target Cals, meal plan calorie options, and Add to Schedule.

Once the plan is scheduled, it is marked Active.

For more information about how Studio Era determines your recommended calories, see Understand your calorie and nutrition targets in Studio Era.

Want a different meal? Check Alternatives

You don’t have to use every meal exactly as it first appears in your plan.

If you want another option:

  1. From Home, open the Nutrition card for the day you want to review.

  2. Make sure Meal Plan is selected.

  3. Find the planned meal you want to change.

  4. Where the alternatives icon appears, tap it to open Alternatives.

  5. Choose the option you prefer.

  6. Return to the day and check the meal now shown in your plan.

This is also a useful place to check when you want a little more variety from the meals currently shown in your plan.

Make more changes to a planned day

If you want to do more than choose an Alternative, use the Meal Planner.

The Meal Planner lets you work with individual days rather than changing the entire meal plan. You can use it to add foods or recipes, adjust planned items, copy meals from another day, or restore a day after making changes.

This only changes what you’re planning to eat. Your Food Diary remains the record of what you actually logged.

Review the nutrition shown for your plan

Before scheduling a meal plan, review the calorie and macro information shown in its details.

The totals planned by a meal plan can differ from the calorie and macro target shown elsewhere in Studio Era. Your planned values and your Food Diary totals also represent different things:

  • Target: the calorie and macro target shown for your profile.

  • Meal Plan: what Studio Era has planned for you to eat.

  • Food Diary: what you actually logged eating.

Keeping those three values separate makes it easier to understand why the numbers you see in Nutrition may not always match.

If you want to record food you actually ate, see Use the Food Diary to log food, recipes, barcodes and custom nutrition.
